Since the Covid-19 pandemic of 2020, the wellness industry around the world has exploded in popularity, and it’s easy to see why.
In fact, the UK was named as a “wellness policy powerhouse” by the Global Wellness Summit and there has been an explosion of retreats of all descriptions in the past five years.
Yoga retreats in particular have grown in popularity, with one recent article for the BBC highlighting how locations such as farms are increasingly being used to host such events.
However, most farms don’t tend to have ready-made yoga studios waiting to be filled, which is where the likes of big tipi tent hire can be invaluable.
Giant tipis make surprisingly good yoga studios, especially in the summer months when the weather is at its warmest in the UK. Here’s why:
Height
For a start, giant tipis have high roofs, which means there is enough space for everyone in a yoga class to comfortably stretch up. Their interiors are also designed to accommodate large groups of people.
Interior space
This means that the poles supporting the tipi tend to be located around the edges of the structure rather than centrally. Again, for a yoga class this is beneficial as it means there are fewer obstructions for students to navigate.
Versatile design
Tipis have sides that can be raised or left down, allowing you to customise your space to suit both the activity you are planning as well as the weather – which as we all know is very important in the UK.
If you are planning to host a dynamic vinyasa flow class, you may want to get some air flowing through the tent so that those participating don’t overheat.
By contrast, if you are intending to lead a dreamy yoga nidra session, you may prefer the sides to be down so everyone stays warm.
Stable flooring
While getting back to nature is lovely, when you’re doing a yoga class you may want to have some protection between your mat and the ground.
Our woven floor matting is ideal, as it provides this layer of protection for those attending your retreat. They can all place their own yoga mats on the flooring, making it feel more like they are in a studio than in a field.
This also gives your space a uniform appearance, making it feel more welcoming to those attending your retreat.
Your choice of decor
You can also decorate your tipi how you choose for your retreat. While we supply fairy lights as part of our standard package, you are free to bring your own props and decor.
For instance, you may want to bring throw cushions to help people sit comfortably when relaxing or meditating. Or you could introduce rugs on the floor for a cosier ambience.
You can also bring any props you would like to run your class, such as additional yoga mats, bolsters and blocks. When you arrive on site, our team will have set up the tipi for you, so you can focus on making the space work for you before your guests arrive.
