If you’re tying the knot in 2026, chances are you have already done a fair bit of planning. But that doesn’t mean there isn’t still time to add some final flourishes or make some small tweaks to bring your celebrations on trend.

We’re taking a look at some of the top wedding trends for the coming year – and one of the best parts is if you’re planning to use a sailcloth marquee at your wedding, many of this year’s biggest trends will transition well to this kind of location.

Let’s explore some of the wedding trends that you can easily bring into your marquee to delight your guests and ensure you have a day to remember.

Introduce texture and colour with soft furnishings

You can make your marquee whatever kind of space you’d like it to be for your nuptials. Soft furnishings, whether seat covers, cushions, rugs or even throws can all add extra texture and colour to the space.

According to Hitched, one colour that is set to be a firm favourite in weddings this year is pale blue. The publication noted that this shade is all about “calm sophistication” and that it can work well as part of the table decor.

However, there are others who are predicting richer tones, like emerald greens and deep reds, will be big in 2026. The general rule is, of course, to choose whatever colour scheme you as a couple love – it’s your day after all.

Think about the after party

A growing number of couples aren’t just considering the main part of their wedding day in detail. They are also planning an after party that transforms the space from a wedding venue into somewhere altogether more glamorous.

This might mean an outfit change, not just for the happy couple, but also for the guests. Glitter balls to add some sparkle and statement drapes are among the options to help change the atmosphere in a reception venue.

You can certainly use these items to help transform your wedding marquee – or if you choose a three-pole wedding marquee, you could perhaps have one end dressed for your evening party, while the other end is where you host your wedding breakfast.

Multiple “venues”

This doesn’t necessarily mean bussing your guests from one place to another. In fact, you can create a series of locations that each offer something different as part of your wedding using a network of marquees

Marquee villages, where the different tents are connected by walkways, are an alternative way to guide your guests through the various parts of the day.

You can have one space for your ceremony, another dedicated to the formal part of your wedding day like the main meal and speeches, and another still for the after party where you can dance the night away.

This can also give you a chance to set up quieter areas where people can relax and chat after dinner if they don’t fancy braving the dance floor.

Another reason marquees work well for this kind of setup is that the sides can be left up if the weather is good or lowered if it’s not so favourable. This means no matter what Mother Nature throws at you, you and your guests will be well sheltered.
